With a keen eye for keeping up with the latest summer trends, when I noticed that many fashionistas were upping the ante on sandals this summer with a surprising new trend, I couldn’t help but take notice.

Flat shoes like ballet flats and mules have been mainstream for a long time, but as temperatures continue to rise, fashion people are eager to embrace the toe ring sandal trend and keep changing. Such sandals feature an extra strap detail that loops around the big toe, slightly accentuating it. I think this detail will divide people reading this into two groups: those who love it and those who don’t want to draw attention to a particular part of their body. Either way, there’s no denying that toe ring sandals are here to stay. Now, wherever I look, I see toe ring sandals.

Sometimes featuring metal embellishments resembling actual toe rings, the shoe trend is also seeing more minimalist styles, with thin leather strips instead wrapping around the toe or chunky straps that cover most of the foot in leather.
