Quarterback Chad Kelly’s CFL suspension remains in effect, and the team’s struggles may have them counting down the days until Kelly can return.

Kelly, the 2023 CFL Player of the Year, left the team during training camp, and coach Ryan Dinwiddie said “we don’t have a playbook for dealing with these situations” regarding Kelly’s possible return.
Ultimately, the desire to win games may prevail. The Argos are currently 2-2 after four games but were 16-2 overall last season. How they perform after their next five games will say a lot about whether Kelly will be welcomed back.
The nephew of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, Chad was the last pick in the 2017 draft and played for the Broncos and Colts before joining the CFL after a year away from football.
He came off the bench to help Toronto win the Grey Cup in 2022 before securing a starting spot last year.
Last month, Kelly and the Argonauts settled a lawsuit brought by a former employee.
