Haven’t we all had a tough time at work because of arguments with our boss? The internet is full of anecdotes about people who had problems with their bosses and managers. With this in mind, Chinese people have found a unique and funny way to deal with this issue and relieve stress caused by excessive work. Recently, a trend has been spreading in China where young workers are putting their bosses, colleagues and jobs up for sale on e-commerce platforms for second-hand goods. We found people selling them on Xianyou, Alibaba’s well-known e-commerce platform for second-hand goods and used products.

According to a report from the South China Morning Post, young people in China are resorting to it to “wash away the smell of work.” “Bangwei,” or the “smell of work,” has become very strong in China, which refers to the mental and physical fatigue people feel after a long day of work. It was found that many people are selling their work or colleagues on Xianyu, one of China’s largest second-hand e-commerce platforms, just to relieve stress from the burden of work.

The properties listed on the website are full of “annoying bosses”, “terrible jobs” and “colleagues you hate”, and are offered for sale in the price range of Rs 400,000 to Rs 900,000.

The trend in China highlights how people are turning to such lighthearted ways to cope with work pressure and escape stressful workplace cultures.

According to the South China Morning Post, one user revealed that he was selling his work for Rs 90,000. He added that the job could earn him Rs 30,000 a month, and buyers could recoup their investment in three months. He also revealed that the main reason he listed his work on the e-commerce platform was because he didn’t want to get up early in the morning.

Another user listed a colleague on the platform, claiming that the colleague was extremely sarcastic. He listed the colleague for Rs 45,000.
