The Georgia Bulldogs will face a surprising trend in this year’s rivalry game.

The Georgia Bulldogs will be looking to buck that trend in one of their biggest rivalry games of the season.

Call it Georgia vs. Florida, the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, or (if you’re a Gators fan) Florida vs. Georgia, it’s hard to argue that Georgia hasn’t dominated this rivalry lately.

The Bulldogs have won six of the past eight meetings under coach Kirby Smart and will be looking to make it four straight wins against the Gators this season, but based on statistical trends, they may not be guaranteed a win this year.

Despite dominating much of the rivalry over the past decade, the Bulldogs have yet to win more than three straight games against the Gators — in fact, it’s the first time in nearly 40 years that the Bulldogs have won four straight games against Florida.

The last time Georgia won three or more games in a row at the Cocktail Party was from 1978 to 1983, when the Bulldogs won six straight games against Florida. This is the longest winning streak for the Bulldogs since the two teams began meeting annually in Jacksonville (1932).

Georgia fans certainly have a right to scoff at the idea of the Bulldogs losing this year’s matchup, given the fact that the Bulldogs will likely be in the playoffs at the end of the regular season, while Florida State may be searching for a different head coach.

A Florida win at this year’s “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” would be one of the biggest upsets in the history of the franchise, but frankly, it’s unlikely to happen. The looming data and uncertainty of college football (especially rivalry games) could be enough to spook Georgia fans.
