Jabari Smith Jr. and Ament Thompson will be part of the USA Basketball Select Team for 2024. As part of the select group, the Houston Rockets duo will be practicing with the U.S. team before leaving for the Paris Olympics.
Smith and Thompson began participating in USA Basketball Men’s National Team training camp from July 6-8. On Sunday afternoon, photos of Smith and Thompson in their USA National Team uniforms began circulating on social media.

“This select team is packed with incredible talent and will have the important task of helping the 2024 National Team begin its Olympic journey,” USA Basketball Association managing director Grant Hill said in a June 28 statement.
“Each of these players will play a role in our preparations as we develop a national team pipeline for the future.”
In addition to Smith and Thompson, the Select Team includes many of the league’s young and established stars.
Joining the Houston duo will be Trayce Jackson-Davis (Golden State Warriors), Jalen Duren (Detroit Pistons), Jamie Jaquez Jr. (Miami Heat), Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets), Keegan Murray (Sacramento Kings), Trey Murphy III (New Orleans Pelicans), Brandin Podziemski (Golden State Warriors), Micah Potter (Utah Jazz), Payton Pritchard (Boston Celtics) and Jalen Suggs (Orlando Magic).
