New Delhi: Following Pakistan’s disappointing performance; T20 World Cup, Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan Cricket Board Meeting with the chairman and head coach Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie Sources said that Naqvi has given full authority to the coaching staff to turn around the team’s fortunes.
Pakistan suffered early elimination from the World Cup, held in the United States and the Caribbean, losing in the group stage to newcomers the United States and long-time rivals India.
During the meeting, Kirsten and Gillespie discussed the national team’s strategy. Printed board chairman.
The PCB said Naqvi has full confidence in both coaches and the cricket board has assured them its unwavering support in their endeavours.
“Kirsten has openly expressed her concerns about the white-ball team in light of the World Cup,” news agency PTI quoted a PCB source as saying.
Pakistan team head coaches have emphasised the need for clear guidelines to ensure that only physically fit players are selected to represent the country.
“Naqvi told the players that they should do whatever it takes to change the team’s fortunes and no one should be asked to compromise on player selection or fitness,” the source added.
Following the team’s losses to the USA and India, Kirsten warned the more experienced players in the squad that they needed to improve their game awareness and pick up new skills or risk being left out of the team.
In the report submitted to Naqvi, senior team manager Wahab Riaz highlighted interpersonal conflicts within the team during the World Cup tournament.
“The PCB chairman said that both coaches are free to take any decisions they wish to improve their team’s performance in both red-ball and white-ball formats.”

According to sources, Kirsten shared insights from her time with the Pakistan team during the World Cup and stressed on Naqvi the need to restructure combinations in the white-ball format and change the players’ mindset.
Ahead of the World Cup, Naqvi had contacted Kirsten and Gillespie, offering them the assurance of long-term contracts and ample opportunity to implement their strategy. Both coaches took up the roles of white-ball and red-ball coach respectively a few months before the tournament.
Having previously worked with the Indian team, Kirsten brings a high level of recognition to her role with the Pakistan team.
