Unclean practices at Australia Post parcel collection lockers have infuriated Australians.

The dirty practice came to attention after locals spotted a growing pile of empty coffee cups next to a locker in Crown Square, Waterloo, in Sydney’s south.

They posted photos on social media of discarded cups neatly stacked on top of a broken wooden panel, with more rubbish stuffed into the holes.

“Councillor or manager of the Crown Square retail precinct should provide bins or at least provide cleaners,” local residents wrote.

“The pile of coffee cups is getting higher every day.”

The post has upset local residents, with some saying the city council should deploy security guards to the lockers and fine anyone who dumps rubbish there.

“The worst part is there is a garbage bin about 20 metres away on the other side of the road so it’s hard to use your legs,” one person said.

Another person commented that Australians should adopt the Japanese culture of taking their rubbish home if there is no bin nearby.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the City of Sydney and Australia Post for comment.

An Australian man has been criticised for leaving a “stack of coffee cups” next to an Australia Post parcel locker in Waterloo, south of Sydney (pictured).
