Geneva – Geneva-based air transport technology company SITA has signed a five-year contract extension with London Heathrow Airport to support the airport’s expanding network infrastructure. The agreement will see SITA provide a range of network, communications and connectivity services, as well as introduce innovative new solutions to businesses operating within Heathrow.

SITA has signed a new contract with Heathrow Airport to manage and enhance its digital infrastructure, including maintaining a network of thousands of access switches, wireless points and telephone lines as the airport continues to expand.

Under the contract, SITA’s local team will be responsible for new projects and provide ongoing support across network communications, cyber security, wireless and operational technology, as well as supporting Heathrow’s internal and B2B commercial customers, and the airport’s supply chain. The contract also aims to improve communications services for Heathrow’s B2B clients, including airlines, ground handlers and retailers.

Sergio Corella, SITA’s President Europe, said: “As air traffic grows at European airports, airports are increasingly prioritising IT to enhance their operations and provide a seamless experience for passengers. With this exciting agreement, SITA continues to demonstrate why it remains the most trusted partner in the air transport industry. By providing a robust IT infrastructure, our goal is to ensure Heathrow can future-proof its network needs, enhancing the passenger experience whilst ensuring effortless operations. This partnership also opens up exciting new avenues for commercial customers, allowing London Airports to offer many new opportunities to their customers.”

Helen Elsby, Heathrow’s chief solutions officer, added: “Enhancing and improving our IT infrastructure is vital to our mission to be a great airport fit for the future, so we’re pleased to extend our partnership with SITA. A robust, reliable network is essential to deliver seamless operations and meet the needs of the millions of passengers and numerous businesses that use Heathrow every day. In addition to providing this assurance, the partnership also provides us the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the innovative solutions SITA brings to industry and customers.”
