Audazzio Engages USA Swimming Olympic Trials Spectators with Real-Time Interactive Content

Audazzio was recently tapped to broadcast the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming presented by Lilly at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Transforming a football field into three swimming pools is an ambitious feat, but with Audazzio, USA Swimming was ready to push not only the limits of Lucas Oil Stadium, but also the limits of connecting with swimming fans across the country.

Audazzio’s technology allows content creators to modify content in real time on mobile devices, in full coordination with broadcasts and live events. The Audazzio Live QR algorithm encodes data as high-frequency sounds that are inaudible to the human ear but perfectly perceptible on mobile devices. For example, Audazzio enabled USA Swimming’s creative team to deliver relevant storytelling content during key broadcast moments, such as biographical information and athlete milestones.

The nine-day event featured a successful end-to-end execution of Audazzio technology for second-screen engagement, deployed exclusively to national broadcast audiences on USA Network and Peacock. To help audiences understand, the Audazzio technology was unveiled during the NBC Sports broadcast, allowing fans to begin the experience by simply downloading or opening the USA Swimming app.

As a result, Audazzio was able to provide USA Swimming with valuable data and insights. The platform tracked user engagement and preferences, providing insight into what content resonated most with audiences. As the event progressed, USA Swimming digested this information and revised its content based on this feedback.

“We’re thrilled to partner with USA Swimming and NBC Sports to deliver a real-time, fully synchronized, engaging fan experience at the Olympic Swimming Qualifiers,” said NBC Sports President and CEO David Schneider. Roy Terracina, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Ordazio“Our technology provided fans with an immersive, interactive experience, allowing them to participate in the event in a new and exciting way. Instead of wondering, ‘Who was the 200m butterfly record holder and what was their time?’ fans received this content that anticipated their needs.”

“Integrating Audio’s technology is key to deepening fan engagement, seamlessly delivering race data and athlete storylines.” Jacob Grosser, senior director of marketing and communications for USA Swimming“Supplemental information that previously required multiple online searches is now automatically available directly in the USA Swimming app, without any user input.”

“We know that a large portion of our viewers enjoy the second screen experience while watching trials. Audiozio gives us the opportunity to engage with second screen in a meaningful way that enriches our content, enables us to promote similar programming and ultimately provides a touchpoint for our partners. This is another step towards creating a better viewing environment,” he said. Jim Thompson, Olympic Coordinator and Producer, NBC Sports.
