UNA/SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh BJP leader Rajeev Bindal on Thursday said the BJP had won all four Lok Sabha seats and three state assembly by-elections in the state despite the BJP “misusing official authorities” and filing “false cases” against BJP activists.
The BJP has lost six of the nine assembly by-elections held in the state – six of which were held simultaneously with the general election and the remaining three last week.
Bindal was in Una to attend a meeting with state BJP leaders to review the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections and state Assembly by-elections.
“BJP activists campaigned for party candidates but the Congress misused official machinery, false cases were filed against BJP activists, party supporters were pressured and government employees were threatened and threatened with transfers,” he said in a statement issued after the meeting.
He said despite these tactics, the BJP won all four Lok Sabha seats. The party also won three by-elections, increasing its tally in the state Assembly to 28, a statement issued in Shimla said.
The meeting reportedly rejected allegations that BJP activists were passive and concluded that all activists campaigned for the party and ensured its victory.
The meeting was attended by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Deputy Leader Saudhan Singh, Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly Jai Ram Thakur and BJP MPs including Anurag Thakur.
