After a resounding success in the state assembly elections, NCP Sharad Chandra Pawar’s party has begun preparations in earnest for the upcoming state assembly elections. NCP (SP) state president Jayant Patil has already begun his Nishtavan Samvad Daula (Loyalty Service Tour). Now, Patil and Sirur MP Amol Kolhe have launched a book on Mahayuti’s ‘Kare Karname’ in Mumbai, which is a scathing critique of misgovernance and corruption in the state, highlighting 10 failures of the ruling coalition in Maharashtra.
Jayant Patil takes on Mahayuthi government
During his speech, Jayant Patil came down heavily on the Mahayuti government. “This is not a triple-engine Sarkar but a trouble-engine Sarkar,” Jayant Patil said, while criticising the infighting within the Mahayuti and asserting that ‘Ladki Kurchi’ Yojana should be launched instead of ‘Ladki Bahin’ Yojana to fulfill the demands of those aspiring for the Chief Ministership in the state.
Slamming Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Patil said, “The Chief Minister goes to Davos and talks about Rs 40,000 crore investment but this is just a slogan. How much of that investment has flowed into Maharashtra? How many jobs have been created?”
Featuring a depiction of three crows perched on a black balloon, the book has been described by Amol Kolhe as “a reinvention of Gandhi’s teenage movement in Maharashtra.” While the original monkeys bore the motto “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,” the Maharashtrian crows symbolized the new idea of not seeing, hearing or speaking of any positive activity in the state.
Party Manifesto for Vidhan Sabha Elections
Simultaneously, party leaders have launched a campaign to “crowdsource” the party’s draft manifesto for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. The “My Dream Maharashtra” campaign, which will run from July 19 to August 15, will collect suggestions from ordinary people across the state which the party promises to consider once the Maha Vikas Aghadi comes to power. The manifesto campaign will have two digital contests using reels and posters and one physical contest using zillas across Maharashtra, asking young people how they think the state should be rebuilt.
Notably, the NCP (SP) was the first political party to launch a manifesto campaign in the state and has adopted innovative crowdsourcing techniques to attract voters, especially the youth, to its political platform. Having achieved remarkable success in the state assembly elections, winning 8 out of the 10 seats it contested and becoming the highest winning party in the state, the NCP (SP) has begun preparations to replicate this success in the state assembly elections as well.
