A Dutch content creator found a hotel room in Pakistan for less than 117 Indian rupees (400 Pakistani rupees, roughly $1.40 USD).
Who discovered the cheapest hotel room in Pakistan?
Tom, also known as @traveltomtom, is an experienced traveller who has visited 159 countries, according to his bio. He recently visited Peshawar and documented his experience staying in budget accommodation there.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the room,” the content producer said in a video that has been viewed more than 860,000 times on Instagram, where he also revealed that for less than $2, he got more than he bargained for. The video developer was initially skeptical as he climbed the stairs to the room, but was surprised once inside to see two beds and a small TV. “This is the cheapest hotel in Pakistan? Maybe even the cheapest in the world? Only 400 rupees per bed, or $1.40!” the post’s caption read.

In the caption, Tom shared how he came across the budget accommodation by chance: “Here’s the story. We Peshawar “I spoke to them but didn’t get to see the rooms during the first meeting. The next day, I was passing by again and decided to take a look. Why not? The people of Peshawar are very friendly and don’t mind cameras and filming. In fact, they love it!” he wrote.

“So I asked if I could see the room, and they were very proud and happy to show me. To my surprise, the room wasn’t as bad as I expected, considering the price and it being one of the cheapest rooms. Hotel “The world… and I can honestly say that here in Northwest Pakistan, Pashtu people are extremely kind, friendly and most importantly, very happy to see tourists!” Tom added.

“Why do foreigners visit such poor areas? Pakistan “They don’t have any luxuries and they show this side of Pakistan to the media. In reality Pakistan is very beautiful and luxurious but these foreigners only want to show this side of Pakistan on social media,” one user wrote.
