The Orcutt Babe Ruth 13 All-Star team failed to rally from a six-point deficit and was eliminated in the first round of the Babe Ruth 13 Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament on Monday.
Orcutt scored four runs in the fifth inning, but the Knights Elite of Santa Ana, Ariz., held on to a six-run lead to win, 6-4. The tournament continues through Saturday in Bakersfield.
Orcutt is Central California’s No. 1 representative. Orcutt won the Babe Ruth Central California Tournament.
Emmitt Lee hit a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Knights Elite a 3-0 lead, and Arizona continued to build on that lead. Lee hit a solo homer in the top of the fifth inning.
Xander Andersen and Nico Nevarez each scored one run for Orcutt in the bottom of the fifth. Six Orcutt players each had a hit. Orcutt earned nine walks, with Andersen and Mason Padilla each drawing three walks.
Dominic Quiroga provided solid relief for Orcutt, allowing just two hits and one run over three innings.

As of press time Monday, Orcutt was scheduled to play in the finals Tuesday at 11 a.m. against either South Lake Tahoe or host team Northwest Bakersfield. South Lake Tahoe represents the state of Nevada.
Tri-Valley 2, Orcutt 14U 1
The University of Northern California representative defeated Orcutt in the first round of the Babe Ruth 14-and-under Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament in Murray, Utah, on Monday.
At press time, Orcutt, No. 2 Central California, was scheduled to play in the finals at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday against either Vernal, No. 1 Utah, or El Segundo, No. 2 Southern California.
