Islamabad:
Pakistan has condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s divisive remarks in Ladakh, alleging that such comments undermine peace in the region and hinder the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Modi said Pakistan was trying to maintain its presence through “terror” and “proxy war” but such a strategy would never succeed.
Speaking at an event marking the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, Prime Minister Modi said Pakistan had “learned nothing from history” as every attempt to go ahead with its plans had failed.
“I want to tell the sponsors of terrorism that their evil plans will never succeed. Our valiant (armed forces) will eradicate terrorism and the enemies will get a befitting revenge,” he said.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said bravado and chauvinism are detrimental to regional peace and are totally counterproductive to resolving the long-standing disputes between Pakistan and India, especially the core dispute of Jammu and Kashmir.

The rhetoric of Indian leaders cannot divert the international community’s attention from India’s coercive stance to suppress the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for the realization of their fundamental rights and freedoms, especially their inalienable right to self-determination.
Instead of vilifying other countries for terrorism, India should look back at its own activities in orchestrating targeted assassinations, sabotage and terrorism on foreign soil.
Pakistan remains firmly willing and capable of defending its sovereignty against any aggression, as exemplified by its strong response to India’s reckless incursion in February 2019.
Pakistan stands ready to counter any aggressive Indian actions, while remaining committed to promoting peace and stability in the region.
