ATLANTA — It’s been a hectic week in politics after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection and would endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.
Since then, Harris has broken fundraising records and is now going head-to-head with former President Donald Trump in the quest to win the White House in November.
Justin Farmer, Channel 2 To find out whether the momentum Harris is seeing is simply excitement, I spoke to political analyst Bill Klain.
Klain said there are three indicators to watch: The first is polling.
“We’re getting polls and some early polls are showing her ahead of Biden but still behind Donald Trump,” Klain said.
The second indicator is money, he said.

“Her campaign has raised $100 million since that announcement was made public with an endorsement from Joe Biden. That’s real money, and most of the donations are under $50,” Klain said.
The final metric is crowd size.
“The buzz is that she’s drawing a younger, more diverse audience than Joe Biden was drawing, but most importantly, she’s drawing a bigger audience,” Klain said.
Harris has received some big endorsements since announcing her presidential bid, the latest being former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.
Harris is due to return to Atlanta for a rally on Tuesday, and so far there have been no plans for any events for Trump in Georgia.
