The Golden State Warriors guard, who will be making his Olympic debut as part of the U.S. basketball team in Paris, presented Wilson with a pair of Olympic-themed sunglasses during Friday’s opening ceremony.

Wilson starred at the University of South Carolina under coach Dawn Staley, then went on to become one of the greatest players in WNBA history with the Las Vegas Aces and compete in back-to-back Olympic Games as a member of the U.S. women’s basketball team.
Wilson, the back-to-back WNBA champion, 2023 WNBA Finals MVP and 2020 and 2022 WNBA MVP, was joined by Curry by NBC’s Maria Taylor during the opening ceremony, where she was asked about being part of a U.S. team seeking its eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal since the 1996 Atlanta Games.

“Legendary. It really is. For the ladies that laid the foundation for us from 1996 to now, it’s just amazing to be a part of it. And I love my teammates,” Wilson said. “We went from competing against each other as rivals to now putting that aside to be teammates because we know we want to strive for a gold medal. It’s going to be fun. We’re just doing our thing.”
USA Women’s Basketball’s Group C play begins on Monday with a match against Japan at 3pm ET on USA Network, while Curry and USA Basketball will look to win their fifth straight title on Sunday with a match against Serbia at 11:15am ET on USA Network.
