Governor Haley signed new gun control legislation on Thursday that she says will save lives. The legislation allows for new strategies to stop so-called ghost guns, as well as the confiscation of guns in court. Ginny. Some Democrats joined Republicans in voting against the bill. Will it change anything? It may if it goes into effect. Red flag laws are probably the most important thing we can do to take guns away from people. It didn’t work in that horrific shooting in Maine. We have to enforce what’s in the law. Marianne. If Democrats vote no, it doesn’t affect the outcome. But I want to tell you all that making ghost guns is not an arts and crafts project. It’s stupid because you’re making a gun that can kill someone and then allowing them to get away with murder because they can’t be tracked. Now, it’s 2024. The Olympics are happening in Paris. It could have been Boston’s time to shine. You’re watching the opening ceremony in Dorchester. But we’re not good or bad, Marianne. Good. And I want to point out the fact that all of this was happening under the Baker-Walsh administration. And we’ve been criticizing them on this show for years for some of the things that are central to that. Number one, the poor rollout of COVID vaccinations and the T and transit, which wasn’t done under Baker. And then the Maura Healey purge. If you thought you could do it with the Olympics, why didn’t you do it while you were in office? Same with Marty Walsh. Building the Long Long Island Bridge in Massachusetts and all that. If you thought you could do it with the Olympics, why didn’t you do it while you were president? We averted a crisis. We would have had billions of dollars of debt. We could have been subject to taxation like what happened in Paris. Yeah, that’s right. So let’s watch from across the ocean. Let’s watch from across the ocean. Okay. So let’s wrap it up. Usually we do the best week or the worst week. Marianne, you start. Best week. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Joe Biden kept his promise. I said that I would be a one-term president and build a bridge to a generation of future leaders, and that generation of leaders is Kamala Harris, who has been deployed the best. The best week was tied in less than a week. The most ever in funding, volunteers, donors. In less than seven days. The best of the worst. The best week. Jack Connors has passed away. What a civic leader he was. What a generous man he was. Boston University graduates like me will miss him when he’s gone. We’ll never see another like him. He was a great man. Never. No matter who you are, he made time for you, right? I mean, no matter how successful he was, how wealthy he was. He did. Amazing. Right. Stop to say hello to everybody. He’s a special human being. You’re totally right. Okay, Marianne, thank you. Ginny. Thank you. Ben. Thank you for filling in for Sherman this week. And thank you guys, thank you for letting us spend the weekend with you. Every Sunday is recorded, so enjoy the rest of it.
