San Antonio – Transportation leaders from across Texas gathered in San Antonio to present the latest technologies and projects.
Paco Felici of the Port of San Antonio discussed plans Monday to turn San Antonio into a hub for future aircraft.
“A vertical takeoff and landing field is a special kind of airport that accommodates not only traditional fixed-wing aircraft but also the next generation of urban air transportation: electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. If that sounds like a long word, just call it a flying car or a flying taxi,” Felici said.
Port San Antonio is participating in this year’s Texas Department of Transportation Innovation Invitational Showcase, held at the Henry B. Gonales Convention Center in downtown San Antonio.
“Imagine if we reduced the number of people driving to work every day and instead chose next-generation transportation options. That would result in huge savings and make our roads more efficient,” Felici said.
The event showcased various types of cutting-edge innovations, including self-driving cars and drones.
If you’d like to learn more about these technologies and speak with the experts driving these innovations, the event is free and open to the public until 4pm.
