As the Club continues its summer tour across the United States, we are pleased to announce our continued partnership with Soccer in the Streets.
The organization coordinates sports-based youth development programs in low-income communities across Atlanta, Georgia, and will work with Chelsea to implement the program in the days leading up to and following Wednesday’s match against Club America at the city’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Since its launch in 1989, Soccer in the Streets has worked in more than 50 cities across the U.S., bringing the sport to hundreds of thousands of kids. This summer, hundreds of players will be joining coaching sessions, practices and more in the Lindbergh and West End neighborhoods.
We are delighted to conclude our summer programming with the Chelsea FC Station Football Festival, presented by EA Sports FC.
StationSoccer, a citywide community project that took place Thursday, Aug. 1, under the StationSoccer umbrella of Soccer on the Street, was built on the vision of creating a network of mini soccer fields on unused land adjacent to MARTA transit stations, alleviating the exorbitant costs of traveling to venues to play the beautiful game.
Long-standing club partner EA Sports FC is the festival’s presenting partner and will be weaving its FC Futures initiative throughout the festival.
This includes specific training embedded into community programs and full co-branded integration into larger events.
The main event will also be supported by GREAT, the UK’s international marketing initiative, and will feature Chelsea legend Gary Cahill and current first-team players, as well as the Station Soccer community, DJs, food trucks and a five-a-side football match to ensure a fitting end to the celebrations.
Chelsea’s chief revenue officer, Kasper Stylesvig, said of the partnership: “We are truly honoured to be visiting the US again for our pre-season tour and want to demonstrate our appreciation and commitment to the tour by deeply connecting with the surrounding community.”
“Having a local presence and connecting with the local neighbourhood has always been something that Chelsea values.”
“We’re excited to partner with Soccer in the Streets to bring soccer to more people in Atlanta. We’re also excited to work with our existing club partner, EA Sports, who sits at the intersection of sports, entertainment and community.”
