The Southern Miss football team is playing an extended non-conference game against one of its longest-running rivals.
The Golden Eagles announced a new four-game series against Louisiana Tech starting in 2029 on Tuesday.
Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech will meet twice at their respective home venues, with the Golden Eagles traveling to Ruston, Louisiana on September 15, 2029 and the Bulldogs visiting M.M. Roberts Stadium on September 20, 2031. The same pattern would continue with Southern Miss visiting Louisiana Tech on September 18, 2032 and then reversing the pattern on September 17, 2033.
Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech already have separate home-and-away, two-game series scheduled, beginning with the Golden Eagles playing Louisiana Tech in 2025.
Southern Miss has faced former Conference USA rival Louisiana Tech 53 times since 1935, making the Bulldogs the third-most played opponent in the program. Southern Miss has a 36-17 record against Louisiana Tech, including a 35-19 victory on the road in their last meeting in 2021.

The Bulldogs enter the 2024 season with a 3-9 record over three straight seasons under third-year coach Sonny Cumbie.
