Far beyond its role as a traditional insurance company, the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC) has become synonymous with healthcare transformation in the country.

With a vision to ensure equitable health care for all, State Life’s work has impacted millions of lives. From its key role in implementing social health protection programs to its life-saving work in women’s cancer awareness campaigns, State Life explores what it means to protect and empower the country’s most vulnerable people. We continue to redefine what is.

The annual SLIC Summit, held on August 22, discussed the organization’s efforts to improve access to health care, highlighting both its accomplishments and future goals.

The summit, inaugurated by Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, brought together healthcare leaders, policy makers and change makers. Mr. Khan recalled his time as Chief Minister of Balochistan when he launched the Balochistan Health Program and praised the monumental role of SLIC in promoting healthcare delivery across Pakistan.

He highlighted SLIC’s commitment to data-driven strategies that are critical to identifying health disparities and shaping both federal and state policy. He believes State Life’s approach to using real-time data, whether mapping disease trends or identifying underserved areas, helps the federal government make timely and informed decisions. and how to provide critical support to state governments to increase the effectiveness of health initiatives and ensure resources are allocated where they are most needed.

The work on social health protection programs in Pakistan was taken up enthusiastically by the federal and provincial governments and successfully implemented by Statelife. Currently reaching more than 180 million people, they are guaranteed access to necessary medical services without financial burden, and this achievement has been recognized worldwide, including by the United Nations World Health Assembly and the internationally renowned medical journal Lancet. It is recognized.

During the summit, StateLife’s Health Director praised the role of various government authorities in ensuring the success of social health programs. He said the introduction of unprecedented social health initiatives by both the federal and provincial governments is an important milestone in the history of healthcare in Pakistan. This widespread access is critical to ensuring equitable health care access and protecting vulnerable populations from the devastating burden of health care costs.

Beyond these regional successes, State Life has demonstrated a deep commitment to addressing one of the nation’s most pressing health crises: women’s cancer. As part of its ongoing efforts, SLIC has launched the Women’s Cancer Awareness Campaign, which will run from October 1 to October 9, 2024. This ground-breaking campaign focuses on early detection and prevention of cancer in women and aims to educate and equip women with the right knowledge. The resources you need to protect your health.

As the SLIC Summit came to a close, it became clear that State Life is more than just an insurance company, it is a catalyst for change. Covering more than 180 million Pakistanis, SLIC has cemented its place as one of the leading organizations representing what is possible when vision and action meet.
