City leaders are giving the community a chance to weigh in on plans for a new sports and activity complex in North Omaha. Omaha announced plans earlier this year to build a $35 million mixed-use complex at Levi Carter Park. It says it will level the playing field in Omaha. On October 29th from 5pm to 7pm, developers will be at Sherman Elementary School to share updates on the project and listen to feedback from the community. The building will be 100,000 square feet and will include court space, a wrestling field and a soccer field. It will also include a computer lab and health screening space to increase access to technology and health care in underserved communities. Residents say the area lacks new development and community gathering places, especially with the closure of the community center. About 4 years ago. They believe the complex will benefit the neighborhood and beyond. “There’s nothing down there, so it just gives us better recreational options. We have a splash park and boat ramp now, and there used to be more, so I’m happy that the city rebuilds it.” ,” said Joe Higgins, president of the Levi Carter Park Neighborhood Association. Omaha, Nebraska —

City leaders are giving area residents an opportunity to weigh in on plans to build a new sports and activity complex in North Omaha.

Omaha announced plans earlier this year to build a $35 million mixed-use complex at Levi Carter Park.

It says it will level the playing field for the community.

On October 29th from 5pm to 7pm, developers will gather at Sherman Elementary School to share project updates and hear feedback from the community.

The building will be 100,000 square feet and will include court space, a wrestling field and a soccer field.

It will also include a computer lab and health screening space to increase access to technology and health care in underserved areas.

Residents say the area lacks new development and a place for the community to gather, especially after the community center closed about four years ago. They believe the complex will benefit the neighborhood and beyond.

“There’s nothing down there, so it just gives us better recreational options. We have a splash park and a boat ramp now, and there used to be more, so I’m happy for the city to rebuild.” Look,” said Joe Higgins, president of the Levi Carter Park Neighborhood Association.

If you would like to share your opinion, you can find the link to the website and survey here. You can provide your feedback until November 19th, when the survey ends.
