ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is launching a new program to help small businesses operate within the airport.
ATL Concessions Small Business Academy participants will participate in workshops and panel discussions covering topics useful for airport operations, representatives said.
The initiative is scheduled to begin in February 2025, with graduation ceremonies scheduled for National Small Business Week, May 4-10, 2025.
Representatives said the airport will work with the Department of Procurement (DOP) and the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Contract Compliance (OCC) to hold information sessions in preparation for the official opening.
The city plans to submit its first application for eligibility under the program in May 2025, representatives said.
A pool of eligible small businesses will be identified for future concession opportunities. Those selected will present a proposal and may be given a short-term lease of available space within the airport.
“This program also builds on Mayor Andre Dickens’ initiative to foster innovation and economic growth for small businesses across Atlanta, ensuring small businesses have the support and resources they need to grow.” Hartsfield-Jackson said Jean Lennon, interim general manager. “Hartsfield-Jackson is not just a gateway to the world, it’s a gateway to opportunity.”
More information about the program will be published here in December 2024.
