new delhi [India]October 30 (ANI): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday said the Election Commission of India (ECI) should “very seriously” consider using paper ballots to conduct elections. He said democracy is too precious to be left to technology.
“Across the world, everyone is reverting to paper ballots, even in countries where EVMs were invented or used before India, because democracy is too precious to be left to technology. .The Election Commission should, however, take the initiative in returning this country to paper voting. Democracy is too precious to be left to technology,” he told ANI.
The ECI on Tuesday categorically rejected the Congress party’s claims of irregularities in the recent Haryana elections as “baseless, misguided and lacking in facts”.

Furthermore, in a letter to the National Congress Party, the committee accused the party of creating “general” suspicions without substance and urged them to refrain from making baseless claims after every election.
The ECI advises Parliament to take decisive steps to curb this trend, as irresponsible claims can lead to public anxiety, confusion and confusion, especially during sensitive periods such as polling and counting days. I was warned that there would be.
The lawmaker also questioned how an EVM that has been used all day can have 99 batteries, saying, “It is completely contrary to any scientific law that an EVM can be used for a whole day from 8 o’clock.” It is against the law,” he claimed. The machine has 99% battery life when turned off from morning until 6pm or from 9am until 5pm, and is stored in a sturdy room and taken out after a few days to vote. I counted. ”
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party chief Tarun Chugh said Congress was a “sinking ship” and election defeats were always the fault of EVMs.
“The Congress is a sinking ship, thoughtless and lacking in policies… They blame the EVMs for their (election) defeats. Every time the Congress wins an election, be it Karnataka or Telangana, , considering EVM’ and the Election Commission will be fine…despite losing so many elections, their egos are high,” he told ANI.
