There are only a few days left until the US presidential election. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are in a tight race for the White House and are busy touring several battleground states that could decide the outcome of the election.
While the candidates are busy gathering support, support is also coming in. Harris is receiving unexpected support from across the aisle.
Former Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his support for the Democratic candidate on social media platform X.
“I’m not really an advocate. “I’m not shy about sharing my opinions, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians. , I also understand that people want to hear my opinion because I’m not just a celebrity, I’m a former Republican governor,” Schwarzenegger wrote.
The Hollywood superstar, best known for his role as The Terminator, served as the 38th governor of California from 2003 to 2011.
He further writes: “During my time as governor, I learned to love policy and ignore politics. I’m proud of the work we did to take power and give it back to the people when it comes to our country, the redistricting process and the California primary.
That’s the policy. To win the next election, we need to work with our opponents instead of insulting them. I know that’s not appealing to most people, but I love when I can contribute to improving people’s lives with policy, as I still do. At my institute at the University of Southern California, we fight for clean air and to strip power from politicians who rig the system against the people. ”
The actor further admitted his desire to turn off the noise and his dislike of politics. Still, he admitted, he wasn’t able to muffle the noise as much as he had hoped.
“I will always be an American before I am a Republican, which is why I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this week,” Schwarzenegger wrote. “I’m sharing this with you because I think there are a lot of people who feel the same way I do. You don’t recognize our country. And no wonder you’re furious. For decades, we’ve been talking about our national debt. For decades, we’ve been talking about comprehensive immigration reform that would secure our borders while fixing our broken immigration system. Washington does nothing.”
Schwarzenegger also harshly criticized President Trump’s actions and his role in inciting the January 6 riot.
“But a candidate who won’t respect your vote unless it’s for his own good, a candidate who lets his supporters storm the Capitol while he watches while drinking Congressional Cokes, and a candidate who lets his supporters storm the Capitol to pass policies other than policy. A candidate who has shown no ability to strive for tax cuts has helped his donors and wealthy people like me, but it has helped no one else, as Americans who disagree with him have made more money than China, Russia, and North Korea. A candidate who also considers himself a great enemy, it will not solve our problems,” the superstar wrote.
He went on to urge his supporters to reflect on the country’s recent political history, which has lacked mutual understanding and been fueled by hatred.
“We know former President Trump won’t do that. He’ll find new ways to divide, insult, and be even more un-American than ever. And we the people will only get more angry.” ,” he wrote. “That’s reason enough for me to share.” Give your vote my vote. I want to move forward as a country, and I think the only way to do that is by working with Mr. Harris and Mr. Walz, even though I have many disagreements with their platform. ”
The election is scheduled to be held on November 5th, and the results will be felt around the world.
