One shot of tequila, two shots of tequila, three shots of tequila, and more? The Real Housewives of New York City■ Erin Ritchie and her husband Abe Ritchie are steadily building an empire.
In the preview for Season 15, Episode 6, Erin launches her own brand of mezcal with her husband and celebrates Cinco de Mayo in style with “Muy Emocionado” (Spanish for “I’m so excited”). ). But at the couple’s Upper West Side apartment, Erin admitted she was “too stressed” about the upcoming celebrations to properly express her joy about her new job.
While preparing gift bags for the guests, Erin told her husband that they had to reduce the guest list from 260 to the venue’s maximum capacity of 180 people. Still, it’s more than Jesse Turnk’s Clueless-themed birthday party in Season 15, Episode 5.
“We just want to celebrate,” Erin said excitedly about the new brand.
What is Erin and Abe Lissy’s new business?
Last year, the couple launched their own mezcal brand, Mescalum, which uses all-natural ingredients. According to the New York-based mother-of-three in a recent teaser, this thriving business isn’t just up and running, it’s already powered by 800 accounts and is alive and thriving. It is said that there is.
Erin said MetLife Stadium also approached her about becoming their exclusive on-site mezcal brand.
“I can’t believe I did so well,” she said with a twinkle in her eye.
How did Erin and Abe discover their love for mezcal?
“About 12 years ago, Abe and I went to Tulum, Mexico, and the house manager came over with a nondescript bottle of mezcal,” Erin explained. “He started telling us about the history of mezcal and basically said, ‘Tequila is like a poor man’s drink.’ Mezcal is what we Mexicans drink.”
Erin’s idea?
“Someone needs to bring this to America,” the housewife told producers.
What we know about mescalum
According to Mescalum’s website, Erin and Abe wanted to “bottle that magic and sense of discovery” they found in Mexico and bring it back to the United States. They teamed up with fourth-generation Mescalero Carlos Mendez Blas to celebrate “the heritage and history of Oaxaca’s Palenque.”
Blas is an award-winning mescalero and co-owner of the distillery first founded by his family in 1930, according to the website. This site details the agricultural aspects of making drinks using the Espadin Agave from the hillsides of Santiago de Matalan and the Cuiche plant from the Oaxaca Mountains.
Mezcalum uses 95 percent Espadin and 5 percent Wild Cuiche, making it perfect for those who want to know more about their drinks.
“We are committed to authentic production techniques and sustainably harvested all-natural ingredients,” the website continues. “Mescalum is always free of any additives, sugar or GMOs and is naturally vegan and gluten-free. Sometimes, simpler is better.”
The harvesting, cooking, fermentation and distillation processes take place on-site. A separate page features a number of colorful cocktails containing mescalum, including a spicy frozen watermelon margarita, a mezcal mule, and a coconut jalapeño mezcalita.
Erin is looking forward to delivering the drink to her fellow Housewives, including Jenna Lyons, Bryn Whitfield, Cy De Silva, Uba Hassan, and newcomer Raquel Chevremont . Her and Abe’s mescalum celebration will be featured later in the season.
“This is the first time we’ve all been together since the inauguration…” Abe said in a clip from Season 15, Episode 6. “It’s wild.”
