Bokar Parliamentary Elections 2024: Bokhar Assembly constituency is one of the 288 constituencies in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. This is the 85th Assembly constituency in Maharashtra. This constituency is a general seat not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Brahmapuri is a parliamentary constituency in Nanded district of Maharashtra. It is part of Nanded Lok Sabha constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress-Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi Party (VBA) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are the major political parties in the constituency. Ashok Chawan of the BJP (former Chief Minister Ashok Chawan) currently represents the Bokhar seat and was elected from the Bokhar constituency on a parliamentary ticket in the 2019 assembly elections. In February this year, he switched to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Sabah state election.

Population profile of Bokar constituency

According to Election Commission data, there were 2,07,385 voters in Bokhar constituency in the 2019 assembly elections. Of these, 109,312 were male voters and 96,974 were female voters. Three voters in the constituency belonged to the third gender. There were 1,096 postal votes cast in this constituency. In 2019, the number of service voters in Bokar was 231 (228 men and 3 women).

In 2014, the total number of voters in Bokar constituency was 18.57.11. Of these, 99,815 were male voters and 84,945 were female voters. The number of valid postal votes in the constituency was 951. In 2014, the number of service voters in Bokar was 94 (74 men and 20 women).

The 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20 in Singhuhas. The Bokar constituency will go to the polls on November 20.

The results for Bokhar, along with 287 other constituencies in Maharashtra, will be declared on November 23.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Ashok Chavan’s daughter Sreejaya Chavan from Bokar Assembly constituency, while the Congress has fielded Tirupati Baburao Kadam Kondekar.

Past award winners of the Bokar Congress

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress candidate Ashok Rao Shankarao Chavan won the seat with a margin of 97,445 votes (47.28%). The number of votes cast was 1,40,559 and the vote percentage was 67.78%. He defeated Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shrinivas (also known as Bapusaheb Deshmukh Goltekar) who secured 43,114 votes (20.79%). VBA leader Ayarwad Namdev Nagorao came third with 17,813 votes (8.59%) and SBBGP candidate Bhagwan Bhimrao Kadam came fourth with 2,069 votes (1%). The total number of valid votes was 2,07,382 (74.33%).

In the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Ameeta Ashok Rao Chavan, wife of Congress leader Ashok Chavan, won the seat. She received 10,0781 votes, giving her a vote share of 54.43%. BJP candidate Dr Madhavrao Kinhalkar secured 53,224 votes (28.75%) and was the runner-up. Chavan defeated Kinhalkar with a margin of 47,557 votes (25.88%). The total number of valid votes in this constituency was 1,83,782 (70.47%). Shiv Sena candidate Baban alias Ramrao Balse came third with 12,760 votes (6.89%) and NCP candidate Deshmukh Dharmraj Ganpatrao came fourth with 7,809 votes (4.22%).

In 2019, the total number of valid votes in Bokar Assembly constituency was 2,07,382 votes or 74.33%. The total number of valid votes cast in the 2014 Assembly elections was 1,95,601 votes or 63.62%.
