Allegations of a high-profile drug cartel, financial fraud, and judicial manipulation have surfaced against the family of Kamran Qureshi and Armaghan Qureshi.

The claims about the prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case add to the already sensational revelations uncovered during the course of interrogation.

Barrister Aamir Hasan, a guest on a local news channel engaged in a discussion surrounding Kamran Asghar Qureshi and Armaghan Qureshi, during which both father and son were accused of running an illicit drug trade and a fraudulent call centre operation.

Another guest on the programme journalist Talha Jatoi, citing his own investigative work, claimed that the father-son duo had been involved in organised crime for over two decades.

According to the journalist’s report, Kamran Asghar Qureshi had been linked to drug peddling and human trafficking since the late 1990s. His criminal activities allegedly extended beyond drug distribution, with accusations of running a prostitution ring and using his influence to evade law enforcement action.

Over time, his son, Armagan Qureshi, reportedly followed in his footsteps, expanding the family’s illicit operations.

The journalist alleged that Armaghan Qureshi was first charged in 2019, at the age of 24, in a case related to the embezzlement of allowances.

In the same year, two more cases were registered against him for smuggling drugs such as cannabis and other narcotics into Pakistan through the dark web.

Customs authorities reportedly intercepted multiple shipments, leading to his year-long detention. However, in 2023, he was once again arrested in a similar customs case but was released after 12 days.

The journalist further claimed that Armagan Qureshi ran a fraudulent call centre under the guise of a software house, engaging in large-scale financial scams.

He reportedly amassed a fortune of Rs100 million (10 crore) per month from credit card fraud alone. During an attempted police raid on his residence, a four-hour armed standoff ensued, that allegedly allowing the suspects to erase crucial digital evidence linked to their fraudulent schemes.

The journalist also claimed that after exposing Kamran Asghar Qureshi and his son Armagan Qureshi’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking and financial fraud, he began receiving threats.

According to him, Kamran Qureshi not only acknowledged their long-standing acquaintance but also allegedly warned him of consequences for revealing these details.

The journalist stated that these threats were not limited to television but extended to other platforms as well, raising concerns about press freedom and the safety of investigative reporters in Pakistan.

In the journalist’s words, the case raises serious concerns over how individuals accused of severe financial and narcotics-related crimes continue to operate with impunity.

The journalist also suggested that despite multiple encounters with law enforcement, the Qureshi family managed to avoid long-term legal consequences, raising broader questions about accountability in Pakistan’s justice system.
