LAHORE:

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah has urged the people not to support “disruptive forces”, alluding to the PTI, warning that if the situation spiralled out of control, “terrorists and murderers” could take over.

He also defended the role of the armed forces in the nation’s development, dismissing criticism directed at them as pointless.

Addressing a minority-related event in Faisalabad, Sanaullah stressed that if Pakistan’s progress continues uninterrupted and no repeat of October 12 occurs, the country will permanently overcome its economic crises.

He asserted that within the next two years, Pakistan would achieve stability, having built a fiscal cushion strong enough to weather future economic shocks.

He credited the establishment, which he explicitly identified as Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, for playing a key role in economic improvement through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

“In the past, when the establishment did not play a constructive role, the country plunged into crisis after crisis,” he said, adding that since the military was now actively contributing to development, criticism against it served no purpose.

Sanaullah stressed the need for unity in tackling Pakistan’s challenges, particularly in law and order.

He warned that if the state’s authority in Balochistan was not reinforced through public support, power would fall not into the hands of nationalist forces but those “living on mountaintops who shoot non-natives dead”.
