LAHORE:

As PTI works to bring Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) into the opposition fold, the party has laid its cards on the table, expressing reservations over firebrand Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s ‘derogatory remarks’ about Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah came down hard on Gandapur, demanding that PTI spell out whose agenda he was pushing, arguing that his repeated offensive remarks were muddying the political waters.

“On one hand, Asad Qaiser and PTI’s leadership are reaching out to form an opposition alliance, while on the other, Gandapur is unnecessarily hurling insults at Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” Hamdullah said.

He urged PTI’s leadership to rein in Gandapur, warning that failure to do so could provoke a strong response from JUI-F. “If PTI does not control its members, we will be forced to respond in kind,” he cautioned.

Hamdullah stressed that PTI must monitor its members’ statements to maintain a conducive atmosphere for political dialogue.

The development came as JUI-F conveyed its conditions and concerns to PTI regarding its possible participation in the opposition’s grand alliance.

According to sources, JUI-F leadership has apprised PTI leader Asad Qaiser of the party’s conditions – some of which pertain specifically to K-P CM Ali Amin Gandapur – before committing to the alliance.
