BADIN:

Five people were killed and seven others injured in a violent clash between the Khaskheli and Rahimo tribes over an agricultural land dispute near the Khurwah area of Golarchi tehsil on Sunday.

The incident happened in village Allah Bachayo Rahimo in Badin district on Sunday.

The Khorwah police informed that the dispute occurred over cutting of sorghum crop between men of Rahimo and Khaskheli castes. Rahimos, who lost four men, blamed Khaskheli for the armed assault while Khaskhelis blamed Rahimos for starting the fight.

As per reports, the deceased and injured were shifted to a hospital in Golarchi. Tension and panic gripped the area following the clash, with armed men from both sides still at large.

A heavy police contingent has been deployed in the area, and security posts have been established in the villages of both tribes to prevent further violence.

However, local residents have accused police of negligence, claiming that the dispute had been ongoing for several days and those prior warnings were given. They allege that the failure to take timely action resulted in the loss of lives.

Badin SSP Qamar Raza Jiskani visited the clash site and the hospital, asking medics to provide medical care to the injured.

He confirmed that separate police pickets have been set up in both villages to maintain law and order and prevent further escalation.

The situation remains tense, with an atmosphere of fear and mourning prevailing in the affected villages.

Police say they continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further violence.

The slain persons have been identified as Anwar Rahimo, Madad Ali Rahimo, Muhammad Siddique Rahimo, Abdul Majeed Rahimo and Ahmed Khaskheli.

The dead bodies and the seven injured men, many of whom sustained wounds caused by axes, were shifted to taluka hospital in Golarchi.

The injured include Gul Hassan, son of Ismail Rind, Muhammad Juman, son of Mamoon Rehman, Yousuf, son of Juma Khaskheli, Meenan Wasayu, son of Juma Khaskheli, Ghulam Muhammad, son of Muhammad Khaskheli, Wahid Bakhsh, son of Yousuf Khaskheli, Gulshair, son of Somar Khaskheli.
