LAHORE:

Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called upon the party leadership to focus on meaningful action for the imprisoned supporters instead of getting distracted by internal mudslinging and blame games.

Talking to reporters at an anti-terrorism court where he was produced to attend his case proceedings in connection with the May 9, 2023 riots, he said those who were in jail were looking towards the PTI leadership outside.

“I appeal to them to maintain unity among themselves and adopt decency while differing with each other, adding that inmates were hurth when they saw the leaders pointing fingers at each other.

“There might be differences with someone but these should be highlighted with decency,” he added.

“I am the prisoner number 805 and this number was directly given to me by PTI founding chairman Imran Khan,” he said.

The PTI leader said he would prefer to keep silent regarding the performance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s performance because his responsibility was not to ignite fire but to extinguish it.g with each other,” he said, adding that the inmates were hurt when they saw the leaders pointing fingers at each other.
