KARACHI:

The weapons used by Armughan Qureshi in the police encounter during the raid at his house were purchased from a gunrunner in Peshawar, the investigation officer in the Mustafa Amir murder and kidnapping case said.

The investigation officer Inspector Muhammad Ali in the police encounter case, related to the Mustafa Amir kidnapping and murder, has revealed startling facts. He quoted the statement of Kamran Qureshi, the father of the main accused, Armughan. Kamran Qureshi gave his statement during the investigation in the jail on a court order.

Inspector Muhammad Ali, quoting the statement of Kamran Qureshi, said that the accused had bought weapons from Farhatullah in Peshawar.

Talking exclusively to The Express Tribune, the investigating officer said that Farhatullah has been declared ‘fugitive’ in the interim challan. Teams are being formed to ensure the arrest of the accused, the IO mentioned.

He said, he will also go for the case property and forensic report next week. This week, the interim challan against accused Armaghan alias Army’s co-accused Shiraz and Kamran Qureshi will be presented in the special court.

He said that the case is clear, and it can be seen in the CCTV footage that Armughan opened fire on the police.

Inspector Muhammad Ali said that a case of Mustafa Amir murder case is pending in Hub, Balochistan, which will be transferred to Karachi.

Regarding the investigation and trial of cases of Armughan, Shiraz and Kamran Qureshi, the investigating officer mentioned that they have solid evidence in registered cases including the murder and police encounter. The accused, involved in the kidnapping and murder, will be punished under the law.

On the other hand, the case of illegal arms and recovery of drugs against accused Kamran Qureshi was heard before the court of Judicial Magistrate South Shahzad Khawaja in the Karachi Central Jail. The jail authorities could not produce the accused Kamran Qureshi in the court.
