At least four people, including three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and a driver, were martyred when militants opened fire on their vehicle in the Karak district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.

The attack occurred in the Aman Kot Towi area, within the jurisdiction of Gurguri Police Station, when FC officials were en route for field security duty.

Armed assailants, positioned atop a hill, launched an attack, resulting in intense gunfire and the immediate deaths of the four onboard.

SP Investigation Karak, Ashfaq Khan, confirmed the fatalities and said all four bodies had been shifted to the hospital.

Security forces and police swiftly cordoned off the area and a search operation has since been launched in the surrounding areas to trace the attackers, said DPO Karak.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the incident, paying tribute to Lance Naik Mehmood Shah, Sepoy Shahid, Sepoy Rauf, and driver Shahpur, who were martyred in the line of duty.

He expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families, stating that their sacrifices strengthen the nation’s resolve against terrorism.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also condemned the attack and directed authorities to apprehend those responsible.

He extended solidarity to the families of the martyrs and honoured the sacrifices of the security forces.
