PESHAWAR:

In a strict move against poor academic performance, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Workers Welfare Board has suspended 15 school principals following the substandard results in matriculation exams.

According to a notification, the suspended principals include those from Working Focus Grammar Schools in Akora Khattak, Aman Garh, Ghoriwala, Haripur-II, Hattar, Karak, Kohat-I, Kohat-II, Peshawar-II, Mardan, Shehbaz Azmat Khel, Swabi, and Swat.

Additionally, the principals of Working Focus Grammar School Takht Bai and Working Focus Grammar Higher Secondary School were also removed due to poor performance.

According to the Workers Welfare Board, the responsibilities of the suspended principals have temporarily been assigned to vice-principals and senior teachers to ensure that educational activities continue uninterrupted.

Senior officials said the decision was taken to improve educational standards and implement practical measures to enhance students’ performance in future exams. The board has warned that further strict action may be taken if academic results do not improve in the coming years.

Once considered centers of academic excellence, government schools across the country have increasingly become hubs of negligence and declining standards. The deteriorating state of these schools has forced many lower-and middle-class families to enroll their children in private institutions, often paying high fees to ensure better academic development.

In a bid to revive educational standards, the K-P government has introduced measures, including the suspension of school principals due to poor results, as part of its broader effort to restore academic credibility and improve student performance.
