‘No patriotic person could utter such words about the gallant officers and soldiers’

ISLAMABAD:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s remarks about the security forces prompted a wave of criticism on Friday from the federal government and the provincial governor, who termed them “inappropriate and inflammatory”.

In a strongly worded statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the chief minister’s comments were “factually incorrect” and amounted to an insult to the brave men and women who have laid down their lives for the country’s peace and security.

“No patriotic person could utter such words about the gallant officers and soldiers who have sacrificed everything for the nation,” he said.

He accused the K-P CM of attempting to “please the eternal enemy” through his remarks, adding that the entire nation and the international community recognise the unparalleled sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces in restoring peace and stability.

Separately, K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also denounced the remarks.

Sharing a video of the remarks on X, Governor Kundi wrote that he “strongly condemned rhetoric undermining the honour and sacrifice of Pakistan’s armed forces.”

“The brave sons of our soil lay down their lives to protect our province – questioning their intent only damages morale and public safety,” Kundi said.
