He hails security forces as ‘national heroes,’ meets students, faculty, promises college renovation

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Cadet College Wana on Saturday, where security forces recently thwarted a terrorist attack.

Naqvi was received by Inspector General Frontier Corps Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (South), Major General Mehr Umar Khan. During his visit, Naqvi met officers of the Pakistan Army who repelled the terrorist attack and rescued all cadets and teachers.

The minister also interacted with students of the college, along with faculty members, commending their courage and morale in the aftermath of the incident.

Naqvi was briefed on the operation and evacuation, commending the personnel for their professionalism. He declared all involved personnel “national heroes,” terming their actions “an exemplary display of courage and expertise”.

Regarding the attack, the minister said, “these are not just terrorists, they are beasts with no connection to humanity.” “No religion permits the targeting of children, and these animals follow no religion,” he added.

Remembering the Army Public School tragedy of 2014, Naqvi said the cadet college attackers aimed to stage a similar atrocity, but the prompt and decisive action on the part of the security forces “sent the terrorists to hell and defeated their conspiracy”.

He announced the college would soon be renovated and restored, reiterating the government’s resolve to stand by the armed forces in defense of educational institutions across the region.
