Jordan’s King Abdullah II has conferred the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree upon Field Marshal Asim Munir in recognition of his contributions to strengthening military cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), King Abdullah II, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) with Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), along with senior Pakistani officials, received the royal guests.

During the GIDS visit, the King was given a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan’s defence production, technological innovations, and potential areas for bilateral cooperation.

The COAS highlighted the strong defence partnership between Pakistan and Jordan, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing military-to-military cooperation and pursuing a shared vision of regional stability.

The King and other officials witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise, which showcased multi-domain operations, including conventional and air firepower, coordinated troop movements, spectrum warfare capabilities, and multi-purpose drones employed in various configurations.

“His Majesty appreciated the high standards of training, professionalism, and operational capabilities and preparedness demonstrated by the participating troops and aircrews,” the ISPR said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s respect and affection for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, noting that the visit “reflects the enduring friendship, mutual trust and a shared desire for peace and development.”
