Associated with TTP’s Intikhab Alam Group, Hammad Zahir was a wanted target killer, extortionist
A key commander of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s Intikhab Alam group was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Nowshera district on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, police said.
The terrorist, identified as Hammad Zahir, a resident of Kahi Nizampur, was an active member of the TTP group, wanted by Mardan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Nowshera Police for the target killing of Constable Maqsood, murder, attempted murder, extortion and other crimes.

Police, along with CTD Mardan Region’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, were conducting an intelligence-based search-and-strike operation in the Ghaibana Baba area when suspects opened fire with automatic weapons. Officers returned fire; the exchange continued for several minutes, according to the CTD statement.
Zahir was killed on the spot while his accomplices escaped. After the firing ceased, officers conducted a search and recovered the body.
A Kalashnikov rifle, two magazines and several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene.

The CTD said the operation was carried out under the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed as part of ongoing efforts to root out militant networks in the province.
