Bangladesh air chief meets CDF Munir, naval chief; discusses defence cooperation, regional security

Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday reaffirmed the importance of strengthening professional collaboration and defence ties between their armed forces during a meeting between Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, the military’s media wing said.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Bangladeshi air chief called on Field Marshal Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security dynamics and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence and military cooperation were discussed,” the ISPR said, adding that both sides “underscored the importance of strengthening professional collaboration, training exchanges and defence ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Bangladesh”.

The visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and appreciated their contributions towards regional peace and stability. In response, COAS Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering enduring defence relations with Bangladesh.
“The meeting concluded reflecting the longstanding and strong bonds between the two brotherly countries,” the ISPR added.
Separately, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan also called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. Upon his arrival, the visiting dignitary was received by the naval chief.
According to the ISPR, discussions focused on “matters of mutual professional interest, the evolving regional security paradigm and avenues for further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation”.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted Pakistan Navy’s commitment to regional maritime peace and stability through its various initiatives. The Bangladeshi air chief acknowledged the high professional standards of the Pakistan Navy and expressed his desire to enhance collaboration between the armed forces of the two brotherly nations.
“The dignitaries agreed on the importance of increasing the frequency of high-level exchanges and joint training exercises to foster greater synergy,” the statement said.
The ISPR said the visit of the Bangladesh Air Force chief underscored the deepening defence ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, following the visit of Admiral Naveed Ashraf to Dhaka in late 2025.
