Cold weather has intensified across most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the Met Office forecasting rain and light snowfall in several upper districts.

Peshawar and the surrounding areas remain under dense cloud cover, further increasing the severity of the cold. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, most districts of the province are expected to experience dry and very cold conditions, while upper and mountainous regions are likely to remain extremely cold with partly cloudy skies.

Light rain and snowfall over the mountains are expected in Upper Dir, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Upper Swat and Mansehra.

In the plains, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Karak and Bannu, fog is likely to develop, particularly during early morning and night hours.

The Met Office also warns of reduced visibility in Lakki Marwat, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, especially along motorways, national highways and the GT Road, due to persistent fog.

Some upper and plain areas of the province may also experience mist during late night and early morning hours, the department said.

In South Punjab, a persistent cold wave has tightened its grip, disrupting daily life as temperatures plunge well below seasonal averages.

Cities including Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan continued to experience chilly mornings and cold nights, with only brief and light sunshine during past several days.

According to local meteorological observations, maximum temperatures in most parts of South Punjab hovered between 14°C and 17°C, while the minimum dropped to 3°C to 6°C.

In some rural and riverine areas, particularly near canals and low-lying belts, night temperatures were reported even lower, intensifying the feeling of cold due to dense fog and damp air.
