DPM Dar reiterates commitment to strengthening all-weather strategic partnership during meeting with Chinese envoy

China on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent spate of terrorist attacks in Balochistan and reiterated its unwavering support for Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.

The remarks came after a series of coordinated attacks at multiple locations in Balochistan over the weekend. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 92 terrorists were killed as security forces repelled the attacks across the province on Saturday, while 15 security personnel were also martyred in combat. Security sources later said that 22 more terrorists were killed with the latest casualties bringing the total number of terrorists killed in operations to at least 177.

Speaking at a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed deep condolences for the victims and extended sincere sympathies to the injured and the bereaved families.

He emphasised that China firmly opposed all forms of terrorism and reaffirmed that it would continue to resolutely support Pakistan in counterterrorism efforts, as well as in maintaining social harmony and stability and ensuring the safety of its people.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides exchanged views on bilateral matters of interest and recent regional developments.

The deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, it added.

The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militant group had claimed responsibility for the attacks in a social media post, describing them as the second phase of “Operation Heroof”.

The government has designated the BLA and other Baloch groups as “Fitna al Hindustan”, alleging they are acting as proxies of India to destabilise Pakistan through hybrid warfare.

Officials said the BLA’s suicide wing, the Majeed Brigade, has developed links with other anti-Pakistan terrorist outfits operating out of Afghanistan.

The attacks were widely condemned by other of Pakistan’s allies as well such as the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirate, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and the Chinese embassy as well.
