RAWALPINDI:
On the directives of Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, security has been placed on high alert across the city in view of the prevailing law and order situation. Joint special pickets have been established by Rawalpindi Police and Islamabad Police, with the deployment of hundreds of additional Rawalpindi police officers and personnel at these locations.
According to an official statement, SSP Operations Malik Tariq Mahboob and SP Potohar, along with the SSP Operations Islamabad, visited the joint pickets to review security arrangements and held consultations on operational matters. The officers inspected the deployed force and issued instructions to remain vigilant and ensure foolproof security.
Picketing has been made fully operational on inter-provincial highways, the motorway, GT Road, and all adjoining link roads. Strict checking and snap checks are underway at all entry and exit points of the city.
Enhanced monitoring and checking are being carried out at transport terminals, buses, wagons, and among incoming and outgoing passengers. The CPO has also directed that search, sweep, and combing operations around sensitive areas be intensified.
Across the city, coordinated security arrangements have been put in place at imambargahs, mosques, churches, and other sensitive and important locations. A robust daily crackdown and search operations are ongoing under the Tenancy Act and employee registration regulations.
Elite Force, Dolphin Squad, Mohafiz Squad, and police mobile units are conducting effective and continuous patrolling throughout the city. Meanwhile, Safe City cameras are being used to monitor key locations and major roads round the clock.
The CPO has instructed all supervisory officers to ensure strict oversight and regular supervision of deployed personnel and duties in the field.
