PM Shehbaz, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praise security forces for successful operation

Security forces killed four terrorists affiliated with the banned “Indian proxy Fitna al-Khwarij” carried out an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

Fitna al-Khawarij is a term the state uses to refer to terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, following reports about the presence of militants.

On night 18/19 February 2026, Security Forces conducted an intelligence based operation in Lakki Marwat District, on reported presence of khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Khwarij.

The ISPR added that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists, who it said had remained actively involved in numerous terror activities in the area.

It further said that sanitisation operations were under way to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorist found in the area.

“The relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, by the security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the statement added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operation.

According to a statement issued by the PM Office Press Wing, PM Shehbaz said security forces were achieving significant successes in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to completely eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country.
