Temperatures can drop below freezing in metropolitan Detroit.
Alarm prompt due to cold weather
A Frost Advisory has been issued for all of Southeastern Michigan from midnight tonight until 8 a.m. Monday, April 22nd. Frost can damage sensitive plants. Consider covering your plants or bringing potted plants indoors.
Sunday night will be mostly clear and cold again. Temperatures will drop into the low to mid 30s in recommended areas, including areas where the minimum temperature will be below 32 degrees. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Monday
Monday morning will be mostly sunny, but the afternoon will be cloudy. High temperatures on Earth Day this year are expected to be in the low 60s. Winds will be from the southwest between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. Nighttime temperatures will be mild with mostly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the mid to upper 40s.
Tuesday
Rain may move in from the west in time for Tuesday morning’s commute. After a midday break, more rain and thunderstorms will become more common in the late afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches. The maximum temperature will be around 60 degrees. Southwest winds will be 15 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Showers will continue into the night, with lows in the mid-30s.
Wednesday
Wednesday starts with cloudy skies, but plan for plenty of sunshine in the afternoon. Highs are expected to be in the upper 40s to low 50s and lows in the low 30s. Lows drop into the 20s in the thumb.
Thursday
The NFL Draft, held in cool weather in downtown Detroit, gradually warmed up. Thursday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the mid 50s. Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s.
Friday
Friday will be mostly cloudy due to the approaching star system. Highs will be in the low 60s. Rain will arrive overnight with low temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s.
Saturday
Warm, moist air will push into southeastern Michigan on Saturday. It will be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. Highs will be near 70 degrees and lows will be in the upper 50s to 60s.
Sunday
Similar conditions will continue on Sunday, with rain expected in the region. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s.
Typical highs for next week are in the low 60s and typical lows are in the low 40s.
