Michelle Krueger has been named president of Austal USA, the shipbuilding company that controls Mobile’s waterfront. Krueger has served as interim president since Rusty Murdaugh resigned last August.
Mr Kruger, a marine engineer with 25 years’ experience, joined Austal in 2022 as Vice President of Global Services and Support.

Prior to joining Austal, Krueger worked on several major projects at General Dynamics. At General Dynamics Electric Boat, he worked on the Virginia class submarine program. At Bath Iron Works, she led the team that built Arleigh her 4,000 Burke-class destroyer. She also worked as the company’s director of repair management.
A graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, she commissioned into the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1987. She also earned her master’s degree in marine engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
