Comfortable, versatile clothing has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the latest example of this trend is the jogger jean, which combines the comfort of sweatpants with the look of jeans.

American brand Rag & Bone is a pioneer in this field with its “Miramar” line, whose “Sophie” pants, with their wide legs and real buttons, are currently the most popular item in the US. The brand reports that it has produced about 200,000 units of the shorts, jackets and other items this year.

Joggers’ popularity comes from their combination of comfort and good looks, with many people wearing them on planes, to work, and even to the corporate office. “No one says they look like sweatpants,” says the 24-year-old. Maddie Chan A lawyer from New Jersey wore one to the office. But some people are against the trend. Tara Johnson The Connecticut native claims that jeans look weird and says she would rather pair a button-down shirt with real jeans to feel more productive.

Despite the criticism, joggers seem to be continuing to gain momentum. While the U.S. jeans market has declined over the past year, it’s seeing signs of growth, especially in wider-leg styles like Rag & Bone’s Sophie, according to market research group Circana. As summer approaches, the trend for joggers seems to be shifting to shorts made from the same material. Jenny McCormick Rag & Bone’s shorts are nearly sold out, and the company is making more.

Will jogger jeans make it to Israel? Only time will tell. In the meantime, jogger jeans will continue to take the US by storm and are likely to be one of the key items for the upcoming Spring/Summer season.
