Ahmed’s party announced on Thursday that it would contest alone in the Haryana Assembly elections due later this year.
The party also launched its election slogan “Badlenge Haryana Ka Haal, Ab Laayenge Kejriwal” (We will change the situation in Haryana and bring in Kejriwal).
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann told a press conference that Ahmedmi’s Party has been recognised as a national party by the Election Commission after it won 14 per cent of the votes in Gujarat.
Mann pointed out that while the AAP is in power in Delhi and Punjab, it has five assembly members in Gujarat and two in Goa. Additionally, the AAP has mayors in Chandigarh and Singori.
The Prime Minister also announced that as half of Haryana borders Punjab and the other half borders Delhi and AAP governments are present in both the states, AAP will contest 90 assembly seats with all its might, which will enhance our political prospects.
Speaking on the occasion, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “We have taken this decision as the people of Haryana have seen the domination of all political parties. Today, Haryana has become a base for ransom-demanding gangs and we know how farmers of Haryana were oppressed during the farmers’ protests and how the demands of farmers of Haryana and Punjab were trampled,” he added.
Singh further said that unemployment and Agniveer scheme are the biggest problems in Haryana. Every village in Haryana has a martyr’s family and a village gate is built after the name of the martyr. At the same time, the BJP government is coming up with schemes like ‘Agniveer’.
The youth of Haryana and Punjab feel proud as they join the army, ready to sacrifice their lives to protect Mother India, but the BJP has turned the Indian Army into a contract army.
Criticising the ruling party at the Centre, he said it is not hidden from anyone what state the BJP government has put Haryana in in terms of unemployment.
Separately, the ransom industry is thriving in Haryana, where the state chairman of a leading political party was shot dead.
AAP national general secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak said, “This election is going to be very fantastic and unprecedented.”
Talking about the party’s roadmap, he said they will hold a town hall meeting on July 20 to announce Arvind Kejriwal’s assurance for Haryana, after which the party will appoint an accountable Congress and contest the elections with full force.
In the Lok Sabha elections, Ahmed’s party candidate Sushil Gupta won four Kurukshetra assembly seats directly. “We lost that election by a narrow margin. With the same strength as in the Kurukshetra elections, the party will contest in every assembly, every village and every constituency,” he added.
