Fiesta Island Dog Park (Fiesta Island Dog Owners)
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego is known as a very dog-friendly city, and that reputation is paying off.
USA Today recently recognized Fiesta Island Dog Park, located in Mission Bay Park, as the best dog park in the country.
The 90-acre park offers plenty of free-for-all activities for pet owners and their pets, including off-leash areas and beaches along Mission Bay where pets can swim and play ball.
The park’s walking trails offer beautiful views of Mission Bay, and parking is conveniently located near the park entrance.
“We are thrilled and honored that Fiesta Island has received a second recognition from USA Today,” said Cathy Parrish, Fiesta Island Dog Owners Board Member. “This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and passion that the community and volunteers have put into making this park a true haven for dogs and their owners. This honor will only serve as further encouragement to continue our efforts to maintain and improve this cherished place.”
Other dog parks that made the top 10 list include Independence Dog Park in Oregon, Tompkins Square Dog Run in New York City and Newtown Dream Dog Park in Georgia.
The list was compiled from nominations submitted by a panel of experts, and USA Today 10Best editors narrowed it down to finalists for the Readers’ Choice Awards. Readers then voted once per day in each category.
