ISLAMABAD, June 22 (Bernama/Xinhua) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a $250 million policy loan agreement to support sustainable investment in Pakistan’s infrastructure and services through public-private partnerships, ADB said in a statement, Xinhua reported.

According to a statement on ADB’s official X handle, the bank’s Country Director for Pakistan Ye Yong and Director General of Pakistan Economic Affairs Division (EAD) Kazim Niaz signed the agreement here on Friday.

In a media statement, EAD said the main objective of the programme is to strengthen the governance framework and create an enabling environment for public-private partnerships at the federal government level.

This mission will be achieved by strengthening the policy, legal and institutional framework on public investment management and public financial management, according to the statement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Niaz said the programme would significantly contribute to achieving the goal of engaging the private sector in the development process, EAD added.
